Blood is needed to survive but it is like another vitamin, comforting like chicken noodle soup for vampires. the hunger for blood is antithetical to violence. It is about seduction, about drawing the human closer..ie the use of glamour.
Needs to eat.. Food, meatloaf, chicken and rice...much sought after meals for vampire. Good solid meals...not rabbit food.
